About the Role

We are currently seeking a seasoned Design Engineer with a specialization in plastics and sheet metal panels. This role requires a deep understanding of vehicle architecture, vehicle dynamics, and production engineering. The successful candidate will be crucial in working with our Computer-Aided Styling (CAS) and design teams to achieve the vision of the product.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of plastic and sheet metal components and assemblies for products.

  • Oversee the integration of these components into the overall vehicle architecture, ensuring compatibility with vehicle dynamics and performance requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with the CAS and design teams to translate design concepts into feasible mechanical solutions.

  • Implement and optimize production processes for plastic and sheet metal parts, considering manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and quality.

  • Conduct analysis and testing of components and assemblies to validate design performance and durability.

  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure components are produced to specifications and quality standards.

  • Liaise with and support suppliers with tooling processes.

  • Develop and oversee the creation of prototypes for plastic and sheet metal components and assemblies, working closely with the prototyping team to validate designs, conduct performance tests, and identify areas for improvement. Ensure that prototype iterations are efficiently managed and feedback is incorporated into the final designs before full-scale production.

  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in materials, manufacturing processes, and industry trends.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design and production engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.

  • Strong specialization in plastic and sheet metal components, vehicle architecture, and integration.

  • Proficient in CAD/CAM software for designing and manufacturing.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

  • Ability to manage projects from concept to completion, meeting deadlines and quality standards.
